Golden Gate Boat Trips are the only boat allowed to land on Longstone and the only boat allowed to tour inside the Lighthouse. Built by Trinity House in 1826 for the welfare of shipping off the Northumberland coast it will be forever known as the childhood home of Grace Darling and it was from here that she and her father made the famous rescue.
Visitors can step inside Grace's bedroom and look out the same window she did to see the Forfarshire wrecked on the rocks, climb to the very top and get stunnng views of the Northumbrland coast and Farne Islands. The lighthouse has an excellent visitor centre and toilets. Dogs are very welcome to land as long as they are kept on a lead.
